About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Broxburn, Dotty's Sandwich & Coffee Shop is a charming breakfast and coffee spot that perfectly blends the warmth of community spirit with the comforting flavors of traditional Scottish fare. This cozy café, located at 118 E Main St, serves as a haven for locals and visitors alike who crave hearty, satisfying meals and top-notch drinks in a friendly, welcoming environment.

The crown jewel of Dotty's menu is undoubtedly the classic Scottish Breakfast, a generous, flavorful start to your day featuring all the beloved staples cooked to perfection. Whether you’re savoring this or indulging in one of their scrumptious hamburgers — from a simple cheese burger to a bacon cheese delight — each dish bursts with rich, well-balanced tastes that echo the café’s authentic, down-to-earth charm. The sides menu offers a comforting variety as well, with options like stovies and chips dressed up with cheese, curry sauce, or creamy coleslaw that add a delightful twist to traditional British comfort food.

Dotty's drink selection speaks to both classic tea lovers and coffee enthusiasts. From soothing **pots of tea** and the much-loved **pensioners tea** to frothy lattes, silky cappuccinos, and indulgent mochas, their drinks menu caters to every mood. For those with a sweet tooth, the rich hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows is a cozy treat worth savoring. The espresso options, including the bold double espresso, deliver a perfect jolt of energy alongside your meal, while milkshakes and Bovril cater to more nostalgic palates.

What truly sets Dotty’s apart is the atmosphere—customers consistently praise the genuine warmth of the staff and the sociable, community vibe buzzing through the café. Morv piano pieces captures this sentiment beautifully, describing Dotty’s as “a wee gem of a place” where friendly banter and heartfelt conversations create an inviting space to linger. Regulars like Mark Birrell highlight the consistently welcoming service and reliably hot, delicious food that keep them coming back year after year. Meanwhile, visitors such as Louise Gifford appreciate the great value and comforting menu choices, noting the perfect pairing of hot chocolate and toasties on a chilly day.

The ambience is more than just cozy; it’s a place where you feel part of something special—a true neighborhood gem. Jayne Mason’s recollection of a kind gentleman offering local travel tips alongside her meal underscores the warm, personalized service Dotty’s is known for. Lovin Joy’s simple yet powerful praise of the café’s great atmosphere and best-in-class service sums it up perfectly: at Dotty’s Sandwich & Coffee Shop, every visit feels like coming home.

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick morning pick-me-up or settling in for a relaxed breakfast, Dotty’s offers not only delicious food and drinks but also a heartfelt experience that makes time slow down just enough to enjoy the small joys of great food and even better company.

Very reasonably priced as you can see. Great wee place to go if you're in the area. Enjoyed my hot chocolate and toastie and my partner had no complaints about his baked potato
